Full-Time Maintenance Personnel

Columbia Seed Co. Ltd. is looking to immediately fill a Full-Time position for MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL to work in a team environment in a busy seed processing facility.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate safe work practices and possess good communication skills.  The right candidate must possess general knowledge of seed cleaning equipment, understanding of electric and gas-powered motors, augers and conveyor belts, forklift & skid steer operation and maintenance, good housekeeping, good recordkeeping by filling out and maintaining all applicable documents and forms.

Job Description includes: perform day to day maintenance in all areas of operation, assistance in all areas of operation when required, and other duties as assigned by supervisors. 

Experience and Training:

On site training will be provided for WHMIS, Food Safety, Fire Safety and other applicable courses.

 

Education:

High School/GED an asset

Class 1 Drivers License considered an asset

 

Physical Demands:

Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time, as well as occasionally lift heavy objects up to 50kg.

Be able to work outdoors for long periods of time.

Full-Time Plant Personnel

Columbia Seed Co. Ltd. is looking to immediately fill a Full-Time position for Seed Cleaning Plant Personnel to work in a team environment.

We offer competitive wages and benefit packages for full time employees.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate safe work practices and possess good communication skills.  Job description includes: plant and color sorter operation, loading and unloading grain on/from trucks and automated bag loading into containers, operating a forklift, packaging, perform day to day maintenance, cleaning work areas and maintaining good housekeeping, good recordkeeping by filling out and maintaining all applicable documents and forms, and other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Experience and Training:

Equipment operation experience, mechanical skills and computer skills are an asset.

On site training will be provided for WHMIS, Food Safety, Fire Safety and other applicable courses.

 

Education:

Administrative Assistant

The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for basic administrative tasks, as well as logistics and inventory control.  This position is full time, hours are Mon-Friday 8am to 5pm.  Some overtime hours may be required.

 

Front Office Duties:
The Administrative Assistant is the hub of the office and requires great organizational skills as well as a mature and friendly demeaner to greet guests.  Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Answering, screening and directing phone calls

  • Scaling inbound and outbound trucks/containers

  • Completing Bill of Lading and other immediate shipping documents required by the driver/customer

  • Greeting visitors, invite them to sign in, provide with necessary PPE if going into the facility

  • Sending and receiving packages as required

  • Filing invoices, growers documents, and Program documents as required

  • Uploading documents to online portal and Microsoft cloud, and be responsible for all document control

  • Updating inventory in bins and boxes

  • Processing work order documents

  • Working closely together with warehouse and quality control team

  • Understand all safety policies and procedures, as well as maintain control of SDS, HACCP, OH&S, CGC and AWSA documentation and files.

  • Build and maintain a positive working relationship with producers, contacting them for delivery of seed.

  • Completing tasks as assigned by COO of Office Manager

 

Logistics:
The Administrative Assistant will assist the Office Manager with inbound and outbound loads as needed, including:

  • Communicating with freight forwarders for outbound bookings as per customer contracts

  • Book P&D; loading and returning containers

  • Track movement of bookings on CN and CP websites, and adjust shipping schedules accordingly

  • Communicate with team members, especially back of the house staff, the movement of outbound loads and inbound deliveries.

  • Support Office Manager where needed.
